魯道夫（Rodolphe Guenoden），夢工廠的資深動畫師，20年的業余武術高手，練過空手道、跆拳道、以色列軍用搏擊術，可惜就沒練過中國功夫，他關於中國功夫的知識基本上來源於李小龍、成龍、周星馳的電影。他為《功夫熊貓》設計動作的一個基本原則是，不以西方式的魔法來「神話」中國功夫，也不以華麗的慢鏡頭敷衍，角色們的一招一式必須是寫實的，力求真實感、重量感，更重要的是，它們的格鬥技巧必須回歸到動物的原始本能，比如鶴的輕盈優雅、猴的敏捷靈活（雜技味）、虎的剛猛穩健、螳螂的剛毅機智，以及蛇的速度、流動性和爆發力。

山青水秀的和平谷有點類似武當山，因為同樣都住著一群武林高手。然而不同的是，和平谷中的武林高手，全都是動物。

熊貓阿寶（傑克·布萊克）大概是谷中少有的不會武功的居民。又肥又遲鈍的阿寶在父親經營的面館里工作，父親希望阿寶能繼承面館，然而阿寶卻一心想學武功，成為谷中第一的功夫大師。但是這對向來好吃懶做的阿寶來說，也只是個遙不可及的夢而已。

烏龜仙師近日有不祥預感。雪豹，外號大龍的大惡魔即將要突破困住它多年的黑牢。大龍出獄後必定會來和平谷復仇。於是，和平谷要馬上召開武林大會，選出一名代表對抗太郎。

谷民最看好的是谷中五大高手：母老虎大師（安吉麗娜·朱莉）、美女蛇（劉玉玲）、猴大師（成龍）、鶴大師（大衛·克洛斯）以及螳螂大師（塞斯·羅根）。這五大高手在個子小小的師父浣熊，名字也就直接叫師傅（達斯汀·霍夫曼）設置的武台上一絕高下。

阿寶當然不放過這么熱鬧的場面，一早佔好位置觀摩。原本只想當個開心看客的阿寶竟然莫明其妙地在武林大會中被烏龜仙師看中，成為將與大龍一決生死的和平谷代表，這一結果讓谷民相當震驚。

既然天意如此，師傅也只好認證阿寶的資格。然而阿寶不會武功是事實，於是要在短時間內將這只胖熊貓變成武林高手成為師傅職業生涯中最大的挑戰。與此同時，五大高手，也就是阿寶的師兄師姐，以各種心態各種方式調教（戲弄？）阿寶。到底阿寶能不能成為功夫高手？能不能在豹爪下逃生呢？

從2005年九月，影片開機至今，歷時長達兩年半有餘。可見好萊塢動畫新貴夢工廠對於影片絕對是精益求精。而且，得知此片拍攝消息的影迷和業內人士也足足被製片方吊足了胃口。這部有著濃郁中國特色的動畫電影在喬納森·艾貝爾和格倫·伯傑兩位完全沒有電影劇本經驗的作者手中，究竟會是個什麼樣子，亦謀殺了人們不少的腦細胞。如今，在影片即將面世之時，顯然這兩位曾精誠合作了多年且受到過包括艾美獎等獎項青睞的編劇兼製片還是在此前公司發布的影片精彩片花之後得到為數眾多的影迷們的好評。在兩人的筆下，影片的故事發生地已然就是中國本土，崇山峻嶺、綿延不斷，猶如曾名耀世界的中國傳統山水畫一般，透著一股朦朧的迷人氣息。影片中和平谷的建築風格更讓人們想起了武當山的古跡。

大熊貓Po：PO本是一家面館的學徒，但是他卻夢想著能打遍天下無敵手。命運之神真的眷顧了他，PO意外的擔負起了拯救整個山谷的重任：對抗邪惡的太郎的入侵。雖然PO還只是一個功夫新手，但不輕言放棄，力圖證明自己的實力給反對他的人看…而在這個過程中，他發現他最大的弱點或許正是他最大力量的源泉…原型是我國國寶大熊貓。

金絲猴Monkey：友好，幽默，熱情，猴子大師是五位功夫高手中最平易近人的一位。他用隨和的態度掩飾著他那非凡的軍事才能。猴子很喜歡開玩笑，每次看熊貓學功夫的景象都特別開心… 金絲猴也是我國國寶，可能是因為猴拳的原因才上電影的吧？

華南虎TIGRESS:老虎TIGRESS是五位功夫高手中最強大，也是最年輕的一位。基本上你可以在她身上發現你想像中的所有英雄氣質：遠見卓識，勇氣過人，大無畏，英雄主義……珍惜每一天。她認為大家對PO的期望完全是個可悲的玩笑。但是再強大的人也難免犯下錯誤，TIGRESS認識到命運並非總如期待中的方式到來。不會是因為「周老虎」才上電影的吧？

丹頂鶴CRANE:盡管鶴俠是位爺們兒，但卻是團隊中的「母雞媽媽」。他善於化解個人的沖突和矛盾，是他們之中最細心周到的一位功夫高手。如果可能，他會避免任何的沖突；但如果戰斗不可避免，他便會盡一切可能贏取勝利。丹頂鶴，也能代表我國。

竹葉青蛇VIPER:虛榮的VIPER是一位嬗變的絕代勇士：先是無限嫵媚的調情，接下來便是暴風驟雨般的凌厲攻擊。她強大的迷惑能力不僅在於魔法，同樣體現在她的力氣，她邪惡的本性，她的苛刻……接下來就是她招招致命的攻擊。所以就不難理解她為什麼總是能得到自己想要的任何東西了。

螳螂MANTIS:MANTIS可能是五位功夫大師中體型最小的一位了，但他卻從不承認這個：強壯，敏捷，靈巧。他總是非常同情PO的苦處，每次都很快來點小幽默幫PO脫離窘境。什麼都嚇不到他勇敢的小心臟…母螳螂除外。（查查昆蟲網路就知道為什麼了呵呵。），可能是因為螳螂拳才上電影的。

小熊貓師傅Shifu:功夫大師SHIFU是中國最出色的功夫教練，致力於培養「王中之王」的功夫高手。但是出色並不等於完美——他是一個嚴厲的導師，卻總是被自己過去的過失所困擾。PO認為他是位「最沒禪味兒的禪宗大師」。但這並不妨礙他將一個軟弱的做面條的熊貓訓練成一個有足夠能力保護山谷不受太郎攻擊的功夫鬥士。但是看來，並不是只有PO一個人需要重新學習學習人生……讓個小熊貓教大熊貓，有意思。

雪豹太郎TAI LUNG:太郎（怎麼象日本人）是他自己的忠實粉絲。曾幾何時，所有人都認為他是史上最偉大的戰士——當然他自己更相信這點。當眾人認識到他貪婪的野心時，太郎暴露了他黑暗的本性：掃盪了整個村子最終被關進了牢不可破的Chorh-Gom監獄，度過了20年。在那裡，太郎時刻等待著時機，尋找著逃脫的機會，出去結束他20年前挑起的戰爭。 雪豹，也是瞞兇狠的。

配音配樂

配音
電影從2005年開始籌備，到07年底才完成，隨後又要開展配音工作。夢工廠動畫大手筆地請來一堆好萊塢大牌明星擔任配音工作，傑克·布萊克與熊貓阿波神形皆像，理所當然地成為該片主角的配音員。挺著大肚子的安吉麗娜·朱莉為華南虎大師配音、劉玉玲化身妖媚自負的蛇美女大師、成龍則成了猴大師，至於《一夜大肚》主角塞斯·羅根則為聰明的螳螂大師配音，最難得的是連達斯汀·霍夫曼都被請來給師傅配音，這是相當大的面子啊。
配樂
看電影時留心音樂，漢斯·辛莫（Hans Zimmer）為該片配的樂。漢斯·辛莫是誰？好萊塢電影配樂的大師之一，其拿奧斯卡獎的作品就是《獅子王》的配樂。其他像《雨人》、《盡善盡美》（As Good As It Gets）、《埃及王子》的配樂，還有備受音樂迷推崇的《細細的紅線》（The Thin Red Line）和《角鬥士》的原聲全出自漢斯·辛莫之手，甚至連去年的《阿森一族大電影》的音樂也是他做的，還記得該片那首彪悍的《Spider-Pig》嗎？說不定《功夫熊貓》中也能有這么「囧」的東西出現呢。
