• "小刀會序曲"是"小刀會組曲"中的一首，是商易於59年為民族舞劇《小刀會》作的配樂，早期"小刀會序曲"就出現在胡金銓的《龍門客棧》 ，是周星馳電影中最常被引用的背景音樂，如在大話在《大話西遊》中被引用里至尊寶被點三顆痣看照妖鏡，還有至尊寶變成孫悟空後大戰牛魔王之前亮相 ，《鹿鼎記》海大富化妝成關公亮相 《大內密探零零發》皇上出場揭穿無相皇的時候都用了這個配樂。而在周星馳最新的電影《西遊·降魔篇》中再次被引用。

  20世紀50年代，為慶祝新中國成立10周年，上海實驗歌劇院創作演出了民族舞劇《小刀會》，它是上海也是全國第一部反映革命歷史題材的大型舞劇。舞劇《小刀會》

  該劇分"起義"、"勝利"、"抗議"、"夜襲"、"求援"、"突圍"、"決戰"等七場，藝術地再現了19世紀中葉發生在上海地區的"小刀會"農民起義的戰斗歷程，謳歌了中國人民反帝反封建武裝斗爭的奮斗精神。該舞劇結構具有中國章回小說傳統元素，舞蹈語言以中國古典舞語言為主體，輔以江南地域特色的民間舞加以穿插，營造情景、強化個性、渲染色彩。劇中多段獨舞、雙人舞也頗具特色，而"弓舞"、"大鼓涼舞"、"倒花蘭"、"盾牌舞"、"小刀舞"等群舞，更堪稱令人過目難忘的精彩舞段。

  《小刀會》音樂創造了"主題貫穿發展和曲牌聯接相結合"的樣式，音樂素材大多取自中國戲曲音樂和江南民間音樂，劇中不論戲劇性音樂，還是色彩性音樂，尤其主要人物的音樂形象都十分鮮明。該舞台美術也有獨到之處，黃浦江水波盪漾動感場景，採用的新技術在國內尚屬首次。
