Robinson Crusoe is one of the world's most popular adventure novels. Daniel Defoe based his classic tale of shipwreck and survival on an uninhabited island, which is based on a true story. The real Robinson Crusoe was a Scotsman named Alexander Selkirk Born in 1676, when Selkirk was 19 years old he was cited for indecent conct in church. Then he ran off to sea. That was in 1695. By 1703 he was the sailing master of a galley. The following year he joined a pirate expedition to the Pacific Ocean that was led by Capt. William Dampier. Selkirk's ship had Thomas Straddling as its captain.
After spending some time in the Pacific, they were preparing to return to England with their booty. Their ship had suffered considerable damage in battle and Selkirk felt they needed to repair her before setting off around the Horn. The captain disagreed. After an argument, Selkirk refused to go any farther and demanded he be set ashore on the Island of Juan Fernandez, which was about 400 miles off the coast of Chile. The captain was glad to do this.
Once ashore, Selkirk realized the enormity of what he had done. He thought others in the crew would join him, but none did. He changed his mind and tried to convince the captain to take him back. The captain refused and Selkirk found he was left himself alone on an uninhabited island. Actually this was the smart thing to do since the ship later sank killing most of those aboard, but at the time he didn't know this.
After about two years on the island he finally saw a ship and ran down to the shore to look it. He realized almost too late that it was a Spanish ship and the Spaniards opened fire on him. They were unable to find him and eventually left. He was much more cautious after that.
Selkirk was able to feed some goats and cats he found on the island and these were his only companions through out his stay of almost four and a half years. He was finally found in February 1709 by William Dampier, who was then pilot on a privateering expedition headed by Captain Woods Rogers.
Rogers appointed Selkirk as ship's mate and later gave him command of captured ship. For the next two years they concted raids on the coast of Peru and Chile. Selkirk was very well-off when they returned to London in 1711, as his share of the booty came to £800—much money in those days.
Selkirk eventually returned to his home in Scotland, where he became a hero. Though he did get married, he never quite recovered from his stay on the island. Spending much of his time alone. Eventually he returned to sea and he died of fever off the coast of Africa in 1721 at the age of 45.
After I have finished reading the book I found it is very boring in the beginning, going on about how these bad things would not have happened .If he had been a tiful son and listened to his father, he would enjoy a peaceful life. Once he is on the island it does improve but it was still not as exciting as I had imagined it would be. However, the details about how he builds his camp and manages to survive are good and I enjoyed the bits very much.
Another thing that I did not agree was about the slavery-Friday. This was written in a time when black people were not treated well. His attitude to the islander Friday is offensive these days. It makes you disgusted with Robinson Crusoe the way he immediately gives so much of the work to Friday and tries to force him to change his faith. He even did not give him a proper name - just named him after the day on which he found him!
I think it is a book value to read because it makes you think about these things and it is a record of the history of Daniel Defoe's society. Although the book is a bit boring, it is also basically a good story.
First
Everyone have a dream when he or she reaches to a certain age. As robinson did, many times we don't want to listen to our parents' word without any reason. This may be a kind of treachery mental state. However, everyone have to suffering this period, I too not exception.
Once I was a child, I rarely listened to my mothers' words. Sometimes I said I would do it, but I set it aside when my mother apart. I don't know why I do like this, yet I still do like that now. Maybe I have to change myself right now; otherwise I'll feel shamed of myself.
Second
Robinson has come across many times dangers. When he had to face those difficulties, he usually did things orderly and he always fortunately solve them properly. Maybe someone say that was because he believes in Jesus, yet it is not the critical.
Nowadays many children are afraid of difficulties, when they meet some difficulties, they will turn to their parents. I think it is related to our ecation system to some extent. To solve this problem some ecators advocate quality-ecation, however, it did not achieve success as they except. I think it is no longer minor matter to consider.

Robinson Crusoe is a novel written by Daniel Defoe. The book was first published on April 25, 1719.
Robinson Crusoe, the protagonist, was born in a middle-class family and spent his life traveling around the world.
On a voyage to Africa, I was caught in a storm and drifted to a deserted island, where I began to live in isolation.
With tenacious will and unremitting efforts, he survived tenaciously on the desert island and returned to his hometown after 28 years, 2 months and 19 days.
This novel was written by Defoe inspired by a real story at that time. In September 1704, a Scottish sailor named Alexander Selkirk quarreled with the captain.
Abandoned by the captain in the Atlantic Ocean and living on a desert island for four years and four months, he was rescued by Captain Woods Rogers.
Defoe is based on the legend of Selkirk.I pour my many years'experience and experience on the sea into the characters.
and make full use of my rich imagination to carry out literary processing.Robinson became not only the hero of the middle and small bourgeoisie at that time.
but also the first idealized new bourgeoisie in Western literature. After many years of publication.
the novel has been translated into many languages and widely spread all over the world. It has been adapted into movies and TV dramas for many times.
