創作背景

導演延相昊一直致力於批判現實的動畫創作，自2006年起開始撰寫以病毒疫情爆發為題的動畫《首爾站》。

2015年初，韓國N.E.W.電影公司執行長金宇德看到動畫《首爾站》的初剪輯版本後印象深刻，向延相昊提議將該題材動畫拍攝成真人電影。在協商下，以不知名病病毒為題材的真人電影《釜山行》誕生 。

劇組在影片開拍前六個月，邀請舞蹈家朴在仁為片中飾演受感染者的演員們作出動作訓練指導，展現特別的肢體動作。器材方面，片方使用LED後方投射技術於列車運行畫面上的拍攝。

《釜山行》外景拍攝輾轉於韓國高速鐵路系統KTX沿途多個車站，主要場景位於首爾站、東大邱站、幸信站、揷橋站、與及釜山鐵道維修廠。

劇組作多方嘗試，使演員流暢演出的同時，亦減少CG加工的需要，在共1800鏡頭中，只有其中三分之一需要以影廠內綠布景拍攝，配合後期加工。

拍攝期間，劇組的化妝團隊每天有20至40名工作人員，12個化妝間全在運作狀態中。在大場面時更在清晨至午夜無間斷地為近100各飾演感染者的演員們化妝，很多時要用上40分鍾才能完成一個精細的妝容。

有人見面就問你，你知道我看的電影兇手是誰么，你怎麼回答？你一定大聲答復：我特么怎麼可能知道，我都不知道你看的什麼！這部電影就是那極少數你看了，你推理了，但不看結局你也不可能猜到的偵探推理電影。一切都發生在這列奢華高端往返巴黎至伊斯坦布爾的列車上，人物關系復雜，劇情撲朔迷離，雖說這是一部小說改編電影，但在我看來其表現完全可以與原著比肩。年代久遠，絕不過時，縝密推薦。
