Norrington: Keep your guns on him, men. Gillette, fetch some irons. Well, well... Jack Sparrow, isnt it?
Jack: Captain Jack Sparrow, if you please, sir.
Norrington: Well, I don't see your ship...Captain?
Jack: I'm in the market as it were.
Private1: He said he'd come to commandeer one.
Private2: Told ya he was telling the truth. These are his, sir.
Norrington: No additional shots nor powder. A compass that doesnt point north. And I half expected it to be made of wood. You are, without doubt, the worst pirate I've ever heard of.
Jack: But you have heard of me.
Elizabeth: Commodore, I really must protest.
Norrington: Carefully Lieutenant.
Elizabeth: Pirate or not this man saved my life.
Norrington: One good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness.
Jack: Though it seems enough to condemn him.
Norrington: Indeed.
Jack: Finally.
Gov. Swann: No, no! Don't shoot!
Jack: I knew you'd warm up to me. Commodore Norrington, my effects, please. And my hat. Commodore! Elizabeth, it is Elizabeth, isn't it?
Elizabeth: It's Miss Swann.
Jack: Miss Swann, if you'd be so kind. Come, come, dear, we don't have all day. Now if you'll be very kind. Easy on the goods, darling.
Elizabeth: You're despicable.
Jack: Sticks and stones, love. I saved your life, you saved mine, we're square. Gentlemen, milady. You will always remember this as the day that you almost caught...Capitan Jack Sparrow.
Will: You're the one they're hunting. The pirate.
Jack: You seem somewhat familiar. Have I threatened you before?
Will: I make a point of avoiding familiarity with pirates.
Jack: Ah. Well, then it would be a shame to put a black mark on your record. So, if you'll excuse me. Do you think this wise, boy, crossing blades with a pirate?
Will:You threatened Miss Swann.
Jack: Only a little. You know what you're doing, I'll give you that. Excellent form. But how's your footwork? If I step here...Very good. Now I step again. Ta.
1. In the market
In the market 意為"Wanting to possess, eager to have, seeking",表示想擁有的東西時,用for 接名詞表示,例如:The crowd was in the market for more entertainment.
2. Half expect
And I half expected it to be made of wood.
3. Warm up to
Become friendlier or more receptive toward",例如:I had a hard time warming up to my mother-in-law.
4. Sticks and stones.
Stick and stone may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.
5. Make a point of
意為"Treat something as important or essential",例如:She made a point of thanking everyone in the department for their efforts.
6. Ta
1. kick ass 了不起
A: Wow, you fixed my computer in less than 10 minutes. You're good.
B: Yep. I just kick ass.
當「踢屁股」時, 比如某人放你鴿子, 你很氣, 就可以說: "I'm going to kick his ass." Hahaha...I kicked your ass."。
2. kiss ass
A: Mary, I'm sorry for cheating on you before. Do you see any chance that we can get back together?
B: I don't know, but you can kiss my ass.
Hey, man. XYZ.
"XYZ" 是 "Check your zipper." Y 是 Your, Z 就是 Zipper 啰!
4. Hit the road. 上路了
A: Do you want to come in for some tea?
B: No. I'm running late. I really need to hit the road.
"Hit the road" 的 "hit" 有「去」的意思。好比某人每周去健身房三次, 你就可以說 "He hits the gym three times a week."。
"I really need to hit the road." I really need to get going."。
A: I don't know what is going on lately. Jack seems to curse a lot these days.

A: Excuse me. I have to catch some Zs.
A: 抱歉!
B: I thought you just woke up. Sleepy head.
I have to catch some Zs." I have to take a nap." 或 "I need to snooze."。
9. take a mp 上大號
A: Would you mind closing the door? I'm trying to take a mp here.
B: Well, learn to lock the door next time.
「我要上廁所」(大小號都一樣) 可以說 "I need to use the restroom." 或簡單地說 "I need to go."。
A: Hey! The volume is too low. Why don't you crank it up some?
B: No problem.

"You'll never know."
13. Got you!

B: What?
B: 什麼!
A: Got you!
"Get you" 是「(騙、嚇、捉弄...) Haha.. You didn't get me."。

B: No. Looks can be deceiving. This thing is actually a no-brainer. Let me show you.

B: What happened? Computer crashed?
16. push around
A. Gary, do you think you can rewrite this paper. I don't really like the topic.
B: Hey, I'm only trying to help you out. You shouldn't be pushing me around like this.
A: Have you talked to Mr. Lambert about Ian's obscene speech towards you?
B: Yes, but he brushed it off as if it were not a big deal to him.
18. boss around
A: Oh! No. I've got assigned to work with Marvin for our group project.
B: Ooh! I heard that he love to boss people around.
說一個人愛命令人也可以說"He is very bossy."。
19. Oh, boy! 真是!
A: Guess what? We first got a flat tire, and now my cell phone is dead.
20. bound to 必定
A: Dan forgot his map?
A: Dan
B: Yep! And he's bound to lose his way.
就可以說 "You're bound to die."。
21. all set
A. Is my car ready yet?
B: Yep! We just need to get this paper work done and you'll be all set.
A: All right. You go ahead and sign this paper and I'll do the dirty work.
A: 好吧!
B: (It) Sounds good to me.
23. cop 警察
A: Oh! No. My TV and stereo are gone. Who did this?
B: I've already called 911. The cops should be here any time.
24. spooky
A: I had a dream last night that Keith and I had a big argument. This morning he came in wearing the same clothes he had on in my dream!
B: That's spooky!
25. Say cheese.
A. What's eating you? You've been so quiet all morning.
B: I bombed in my final exam.
"What's eating you?"
A: What do you think of this?
B: It's kind of dead. Maybe you want to add more graphics to jazz it up.
28. My hands are tied
A: Mr. Chapman, can I hand in my homework next time. I left it at home.
B: All of the scores must be given to the office by Friday, so you must have your homework today. It is a school rule and there is nothing I can do. My hands are tied!.
29. love handles
A: You'd better lose those love handles fast. I'm tired of having so much to hold on to.
B: I think I look fine, my dear.
30. maxed out 累慘了
A: I'm working 70 hours this week. I'm totally maxed out.
B: 70 hours? I'd be dead if I worked this hard.
31. If You Snooze, You Lose!
A: Hey! Where did all the cake go? I haven't got any of it.

32. jerk one's chain
A: Hey! Can I ask you another question?
B: Stop jerking my chain. I'm trying to study here.
33. have a cow (俚語)非常生氣
A: When I told my mom I would be home around 2 am, she had a cow!
34. knock it off!
A: Tim, knock it off, would you? Your singing is killing me.
A: Tim,
B: Hey! You're rude.
"Knock it off!" 和 "Stop it!"
35. my ass
A: Honey, this is going to be my last cigarette. I'm not gonna smoke again, I promise.
B: This is going to be your last cigarette, my ass.
也有女生會在"ass"前加個"little", 而成"my little ass"(我的小屁屁), 也蠻可愛的。
A: Oh, no. I completely forgot about my appointment with Mrs. Anderson at 2 o'clock.
A: 唉呀!
B: You know she's gonna complain about that big time, don't you?

B: You've got it taken care of just like that? You're the man.
38. on the nose (時間的)整點; 完全
A: What time is it, honey?
A: 甜心!
B: It's six pm on the nose.
Your guess was right on the nose."
39. on the spot
A: So, what do you say, Hubert? Should we stay or leave?
B: Hey! Don't put me on the spot. How should I know?
40. Way to go!
Daisy, keep your hands up... Way to go. Very good.
Daisy,
當然她當時不是跟我說 "Way to go." "Way to go." 是"That's the way to go."
41. armpit
A: Oh, man. This room is an absolute armpit! When's the last time you cleaned this place?
A: 唉呀!
B: The last time my mom was here.
42. buns
A: Hey! What are you doing staring at that girl's buns?
B: I'm not. I just like the skirt she's wearing.
還有一個很有意思, 也是由"bun"的形狀衍生而來的俚語是"have a bun in the oven"。 Sally is having a bun in the oven."。
A: Are you angry at Nancy because she kept your video too long?
B: No. I lent her my favorite tape and she recorded over it. That really pissed me off.
I'm so pissed off at you.", 就是「我對你很生氣」的意思。
A: I'm really beat. I wish I could be kicking back at the beach right now.
A: 我好累...
B: Me, too.
45. okay
A: How do you like your new roommate?
B: He is an okay person. I like him.
Well, it's not exactly my dream TV., but it's a decent one."
46. shake a leg 趕快
A: All the furniture in the store is on sale today?
B: Yeah. The whole place is packed. You'd better shake a leg before it's all gone.
Oh, man. The whole parking lot is packed."。
47. pull one's leg
A: Did Richard really go to Italy this summer?
A: Richard
B: No way. He was only pulling your leg and you believed him?
48. booboo
A: How did you do on the exam?
B: Oh, you won't believe it. I got all the questions right at first, and then I decided to go back and make some changes. Guess what? I ended up getting five booboos. I'm kicking myself for that.
