中文:卡洛琳是一個只有十幾歲大的小女孩，正如這個年紀的其他孩子一樣，卡洛琳對身邊的一切都充滿了童趣一般的好奇心。因為種種原因，她的父母決定舉家搬遷到另外一個小鎮居住，搬家對於大人來說是一份相當繁瑣和累人的工作，但對於小小的卡洛琳卻是相當有意思的一次經歷。同樣的，這個全新入住的小鎮對於大人來說是相當的陰郁和詭異，但這一切在卡洛琳的眼中都是那樣的有趣，不論是訓練了一個老鼠馬戲團的老爺爺，還是整天吵架的怪異姐妹都成了她探索的對象。但最神奇的事情還不是這些，卡洛琳發現在這棟老房子里有一個驚天的大秘密！原先她曾經數過家裡的門，數字停留在13這個最不吉利的數字上。而神奇的是，原來在客廳里還有一道誰也沒發現的門。這道門後面通向哪裡呢？卡洛琳絕對是個行動派，她充分地認識到「實踐是檢驗真理唯一標准」這句話的正確性。所以她便走進了這扇大門……
