自从乔安妮·凯瑟琳·罗琳(Joanne Kathleen Rowling)（1966-）24岁那年在火车上看到窗外一个戴着眼镜的小男巫朝她微笑并挥手时，罗琳便萌生了进行魔幻题材写作的想法。她在七年后，把这个想法变成了现实。于是，《哈利·波特与魔法石》（1997）诞生了，并让全世界的人为之喝彩。《哈利·波特系列历险小说》凭着出奇的想象、层 层迭出的悬念和利于儿童阅读的语言，几乎是一夜之间征服了世界各地的少年读者。到目前为止，前三册已经被译成了35种文字，销售至少在3500万册以上。

这些作品的陆续问世，不断地刷新着世界小说发行史的记录。哈利·波特这个人物顿时叱咤文学江湖，让数不清的读者为之倾倒，这不能不说是文学史上的一个奇迹。
罗琳这个富有想象力的魔法妈妈带给了无数人欢笑与泪水，也带给了全世界的FANS一个美丽的梦。
这部作品改编成的电影也火遍了全世界。哈利的饰演者丹尼尔·雷德克里夫成为英国最富有的少年，鲁伯特·格林特和艾玛·沃特森不知有了多少的FANS。随着《哈利·波特》的不断翻新，电影主角也一个个长大，与此同时FANS们也追随者偶像们的脚步慢慢变得成熟，当然《哈利·波特》的奇迹也在慢慢走向终结。

1900年以前的琐碎往事
公元前382年奥利凡德开始制作魔杖。如果不算罗恩提到的埃及金字塔魔法的话，这是我们JK阿姨的笔下能探知的最早事件。
公元962年欧洲的巫师们开始使用飞天扫帚了。可那时候的扫帚骑着非常不舒服，远远比不上现在的火弩箭，有一份德国手稿为证，它记载了三名巫师从扫帚上下来，个个都极不舒服。
公元993年以前霍格沃茨魔法学校建立。当时的欧洲社会极为仇视魔法师，这种情况才导致了当时最有才华的四位巫师作出远离麻瓜开办一所巫师培训学校的决定，这四位巫师是：戈德里克·格兰芬多，罗伊纳·拉文克劳，萨拉查·斯莱特林和赫尔加·赫奇帕奇。他们生活的年代也应该在公元10世界到11世纪。在霍格沃茨创立的几年之后，萨拉查·斯莱特林在学校里修建了密室，并最终离开了学校。
公元1000-1100（11世纪）魁地奇运动开始初现。这得益于格蒂·基德尔的文字记载。从她的日记里我们得知魁地奇运动发源于一个叫魁地沼的地方，这也是此项运动得名的缘由。当然如今她的记载已经成了被妥善保存的文物。

时间线是如何确定的
除了那些古老的事件拥有确定的年代之外，哈利在霍格沃茨的6年并没有直接的年代证明，好在，《哈利·波特》的正文中还是出现了可供推测的点。在《密室》里，我们的主人公哈利参加了“差点没头的尼克”举办的五百年忌辰晚会，而在晚会的蛋糕上我们读到：“尼古拉斯·德·敏西·波平顿爵士逝于1492年10月31日。”这个日子加上五百年，就是那次忌辰晚会举办的日子——1992年10月31日，那时哈利正在读霍格沃茨二年级。还有，在《死亡圣器》里提到哈利的父母去世在1981年10月31日，而那时哈利才1岁，当他11岁，也就是1991年时，他才会去学校读书。
于是哈利在霍格沃茨读书的日子被确定了下来，往前倒推，伏地魔得失的年代也确定了下来。整个故事就印在了真实的时间线上。从这个意义上来说，我们都要感谢“差点没头的尼克”和哈利父母无私的帮助.
哈利波特与魔法石
哈利波特是一个孤儿，从小寄养在姨妈家，受尽欺凌。但就在哈利11岁生日的时候，他意外收到了霍格沃茨学院的入学通知书。哈利从该学院派来接他的巨人海格口中得知，这是一间魔法学院，并得知了自己的身世，原来哈利的父母都是伟大的魔法师，在对付伏地魔的战斗中双双献身，唯有哈利幸免于难。
哈利进入霍格沃茨后，表现出了超乎想象的飞行天赋，得到麦格教授的推荐进入了格兰芬多的魁地奇球队。另一方面，哈利发现霍格沃茨学院内有一股黑暗势力似乎在暗暗滋长，揭开谜团的关键就在有凶恶的三头犬守护的房间内。
哈利、罗恩和赫敏三个好朋友决定探个究竟。
哈利波特与密室
哈利波特（丹尼尔•雷德克里夫 Daniel Radcliffe 饰）结束了假期，即将回到霍格沃兹继续学习魔法。一个叫多比的家养小精灵警告哈利不要回到霍格沃兹，否则会陷入极大的危险。哈利没有听从多比的劝告，回到了霍格沃兹。很快，霍格沃兹发生了一连窜怪事:接二连三出现学生被石化，一直找不出原因。而哈利总能听到一种奇怪的声音，从墙壁里传出来。
传说，霍格沃兹有一个密室，里面记录着伏地魔年轻时的秘密，只有斯莱特林的人才能打开密室。哈利偶然发现自己能听懂蛇说话，一时传闻是哈利打开了密室。难道多比所指的危险就隐藏在密室？
哈利波特与阿兹卡班的囚徒
哈利（丹尼尔·雷德克里夫）即将在霍格沃兹渡过第三个年头，此时在阿兹塔班却传出恶棍小天狼星（加里·奥德曼）越狱的消息。据说小天狼星正是背叛哈利父母的好友，他的教父，而这次小天狼星越狱似乎正是为了找他。哈利的心里悄悄的滋生了为父母报仇的想法，期待着小天狼星的出现。
新来的魔法老师卢平（大卫·休里斯）有着桀骜不驯的个性，与哈利关系很好，教了哈利许多实用的黑魔法防御知识。而此时在他的魔法地图上却出现了一个神秘人物，虫尾巴。偶然的机会下，在尖叫棚屋里集齐了哈利父亲当年的所有好友，卢平、虫尾巴、小天狼星，哈利的魔杖直指向小天狼星，但他发现那罪犯看他的眼神里充满了疼爱……
哈利波特与火焰杯
这是一个不同寻常的学期，魔法学校的盛事：三强争霸赛在霍格沃茨举行。学生们争先报名，希翼获得永恒无上的荣誉。火焰杯在选出三所学校的三名勇士后，竟将未足年龄的哈利也挑选出来。

逃过摄魂怪的追杀，通过魔法部的审查，哈利（丹尼尔·雷德克里夫）终于回到美丽的霍格沃兹。然而这个学期并不轻松，他不仅要完成魔法等级考试，还要应对夜晚的噩梦和黑魔法防御课老师乌姆里奇的打压。在好友的支持下，哈利秘密组建了邓不利多军团，与大家一起练习黑魔法防御术。
噩梦中，哈利总是以伏地魔的视角出现，似乎他们之间有着某种神秘的联系。在邓不利多（迈克尔·刚本）的指示下，哈利向斯内普教授（阿伦·瑞克曼）学习封闭术，却鲜有成效。终于在一次噩梦的诱使下，哈利偏执的赶往魔法部营救小天狼星，却不想陷入伏地魔的圈套，引发凤凰社与食死徒之间的正面冲突。在混战中，小天狼星（加里·奥德曼）不幸遇难。

学校通知学生在校园里增加了安全措施，邓布利多的解释是要保护学生和学校不受狂暴的食死徒威胁。然而，这些年轻小魔法师们将会发现，没有任何神奇灵药能够帮助他们控制蠢蠢欲动的青春躁动及错综复杂的爱情纠葛，包括暗恋、单相思、争风吃醋、横刀夺爱等麻瓜世界青少年会出现的青春期恋情，如今在魔法世界中也同样上演。
哈利对金妮·韦斯莱产生感觉，但金妮却跟迪安·托马斯正在交往，何况她老哥是罗恩。另一方面，爱上拉文德·布朗的罗恩也自顾不暇，使得暗恋他的赫敏在一旁很不是滋味，于是一气之下决定跟寇马约会，即使她根本受不了他，因为她只是希望罗恩会吃醋。这次，欢迎大家来到年轻人的正常爱情世界。
在青春萌动的背后，令人闻之丧胆的伏地魔及食死徒再度回来肆虐，并同时向麻瓜世界和魔法世界伸出魔爪，霍格沃兹魔法学校不再是安全的避风港。哈利怀疑连霍格沃兹的城堡内都危机四伏，邓布利多则全力替哈利将来的迎战做准备，因为他明白最后之战即将来临。
邓布利多需要哈利帮他找到一个关键的信息，以便找出伏地魔的七个魂器。唯有找出魂器，才有可能彻底瓦解伏地魔与他的黑暗势力。但这个关键的记忆就深埋在前霍格沃兹魔药学教授霍拉斯·斯拉格霍恩的脑海里。为此，邓布利多只好以高薪、大办公室等优厚条件利诱他的老友兼昔日同事重回教学岗位，让哈利有机会求教于他。
鲁弗斯·斯克林杰接替康奈利·福吉成为了魔法部的部长。原因是魔法世界中的人们认为康奈利·福吉对于早些时候伏地魔对魔法世界发动的袭击处理不当。
西弗勒斯·斯内普施放了牢不可破的誓言，他向德拉科·马尔福的妈妈保证，他会在德拉科·马尔福的第一个食死徒任务中进行保护和帮助。
哈利·波特和阿不思·邓布利多成功说服了霍拉斯·斯拉格霍恩重返学校，担任魔药课教师，而西弗勒斯·斯内普教授则如愿以偿，成为了黑魔法防御课老师。在一节哈利·波特忘带课本的魔药课上，霍拉斯·斯拉格霍恩借给了哈利一本旧的魔药课课本。哈利发现，这本旧课本上面签着“混血王子”这个名字，此外这本书上还有很多笔记。而哈利靠着这些笔记取得了甚至比赫敏·格兰杰还要优秀得魔药课成绩。
而另一方面，哈利的情感也日渐成熟，在心底对金妮的迷恋越发强烈；赫敏和罗恩的感情也出现了摩擦：罗恩挽着拉文德的手走来走去，赫敏独自吃醋……
哈利·波特与混血王子电影海报 邓布利多用他的冥想盆向哈利展示了一些伏地魔过去的情况，并且认定伏地魔在过去曾经把自己的灵魂分成七份，并且将其中的六份藏入了魂器（一些可以永世长存的魔法物品）中。其实，伏地魔的两个魂器已经被摧毁了，其中一个是被哈利·波特毁掉的汤姆·里德尔的日记[HP2]，另一个是由邓布利多毁掉的马沃罗·冈特的戒指。邓布利多相信想要杀死伏地魔，另外四个魂器也需要毁掉。所以，他和哈利前去取回萨拉查·斯莱特林的挂坠盒。邓布利多因为喝掉了保护挂坠盒的药剂而变得非常虚弱。
他们两个返回后发现黑魔标记出现在霍格沃茨魔法学校，这表示食死徒来到了霍格沃茨魔法学校并与教职员和学生发生了战斗。邓布利多释放咒语令藏在隐形衣下的哈利僵住。这之后，哈利便在别人看不到他的情况下目睹了一系列大事：德拉科·马尔福到来并且表示是他用魔法橱柜把食死徒带进了学校。后来更多的食死徒赶到现场，催促德拉科·马尔福完成任务。但是，德拉科·马尔福面对邓布利多显得十分犹豫。此时，西弗勒斯·斯内普来了，他用“阿瓦达索命”这句咒语杀了邓布利多，履行了他和德拉科·马尔福的妈妈的誓言。后来，哈利一路追击西弗勒斯·斯内普（同时说出自己就是“混血王子”，并早已发现哈利得到了自己以前的这本魔药书）和德拉科·马尔福，但是他们仍然逃出了霍格沃茨魔法学校。
麦格教授成为了霍格沃茨魔法学校的临时校长，但是学校很可能将会因为不安全而被关闭。哈利发现他和邓布利多辛苦得到的斯莱特林小金匣是假的，真的挂坠盒被一个署名为R.A.B.的神秘人物取走。在邓布利多的葬礼结束之后，哈利决定无论怎样他都不回学校继续学习，而是去投身于毁掉伏地魔的所有魂器，并且立志最终敏及罗恩也表示他们会跟哈利一起执行这使命 .

哈利波特在霍格沃斯学院的第7个学年终于开始，但哈利波特已无心再学习魔法，因为邓布利多的死给了他太多的打击。而开学之后德拉科·马尔福也变得很不正常，他多次制造事件，逼哈利等人退学。
同时伏地魔的食死徒军团正在阴暗角落中集中着，他马上就对霍格沃斯学院动手了，因为那里有他害怕同时也想得到的一件东西。
哈利波特始终对邓布利多给他的一句咒语不明就理，因为这是一个分解并移植的咒语。罗恩和赫敏帮他找了很多资料，但是没一样有用的，可是邓布利多却交待这很重要。
等不到哈利波特解开这道难题，伏地魔的食死徒军团已经兵临霍格沃斯学院城下。面对强大的食死徒军团，霍格沃斯学院的老师和学生决心抗争到底，不为黑暗力量所屈服。可是战斗刚开始，敌人却从学院内杀出，原来是马尔福的父亲－－卢修斯·马尔福带了一部分食死徒从密道偷入学院。大部分学生和老师都被俘了，哈利波特等少数人逃了出来。德拉科·马尔福要哈利波特自己的父亲不要再做恶，但卢修斯·马尔福告诉自己的儿子，马尔福家族早已是伏地魔忠实部下，并且在伏地魔杀死哈利父母时他也是随从。见证了哈利父母的死和伏地魔的毁灭。
伏地魔在学院内大肆寻找他想要的那个令他害怕而又希望得到的东西－－“分院帽”。在学院的下水道内哈利波特等人苦想着办法，逃出叫救兵，食死徒已哈利波特5经占领封锁了出去路。进行战斗又力量不足。这时邓布利多的凤凰飞来了，还带了“分院帽”。
赫敏打倒了彷徨之中，而神不守舍的德拉科·马尔福，想让他带路让他们出去，因为他父亲正是食死徒的头目之一，但没想到德拉科·马尔福不但答应而且主动帮他们想办法，最后卢娜想出了办法－－让凤凰去找凤凰社的人来。就在这时食死徒发现了哈利波特等人，德拉科·马尔福挺身而出，卢修斯·马尔福面对独子无法痛下杀手，哈利等人逃去。
