In this essay, I will first reveal this film’s indication of the social context of that age, then I will analyse the two contrary aspects of human nature indicated in this film through some impressive shots.
Under the development of instrial technology, the economy in the Capitalism countries took off. People lived a rich, luxury and expensive life, and this rapid economic development lasted for almost 20 years. People had got used to this kind of life. The huge development in machinery changed people’s life greatly. Innovations of transportation, such as vehicles and tankers, allowed people to travel around. The appearance of these modern transportations was an important milestone of the instrialization. People thus became very confident on human intellectual capabilities. They believed their power of conquering the nature is inapproachable. While the Titanic is also called “The Ship of Dreamers”, in this film, when it bearing in with the ocean in the darkness, the mysterious ocean represents the unknown nature and the ship itself represents the advanced material capabilities people owned. In a shot that Mr Bruce explains his design of the Titanic, he said “the ship possesses huge size, stability, luxury, and strength”, and that” the supremacy will never be challenged”. In fact, all these words can be thought of the symbols of the Capitalism of that time in many people’s eyes. They thought the Capitalism is just like the Titanic, which should be “unsinkable”. I feel that much of Gumps'appeal is his downright sense of doing the right thing regardless of the people and situations around him and we see that in this film. That being the case maybe we all wish we could be just a little more like that, the innate goodness and not the trade-offs we make as we go down lifes' highways.

The movie has it all too,drama,comedy and it challenges societal norms as well. Then there are the almost endless quotes from the movie that have slipped into everyday speech. They are too numerous to say at this point.One of the toppers for me in the movie is when Forrest is in a quandary about life and wondering as Lt.Dan said we all have a destiny and his Moms where we are all just floating around like a feather in the wind. Forrest's character puts into a term that I think is pretty to the point,I think it is a little bit of both. From my experiences in life it does sure seem to be that way. So if you have not seen the movie,see it soon you are in for a real treat. If you did not like it, give it a try again and hopefully you will see it for the great story it is!

it’s a very intresting topic today.
I don't have a role model now, but I probably should.
I think my Dad was my role model when I was a young child. We'd go fishing, walks, and other fun things for a kid.

Every child has a good and great father, and so do I. My dad played a very important role in my daily life`````exactly speaking, in my past 25 years.

My father always stands in the center of my life， from past till now and possibly in the future.
My family was rather poor when I was in my childhood. We didn't have our own house and had to live in a shabby， small room rented from my father's factory. The room was so small that there was little space for people to walk. I didn't have my own bed and had to sleep with my parents. This is terrible both for my parents and me.
But father made this all different！he works very hard on his own business, now we have our own 2 housese,surly,I have my own room.and he takes our family so much happiness, richer and richer.
When I was little, I did everything with my dad. You could always find me sitting on his knee or walking and doing everything with him. Every night he would read me a bed time story and make the voices of each character. Our favourite book was the 3 pigs and the big bad wolf. We would laugh forever at the funny things we made up to replace the 3 pigs and the wolf, such as bananas or oranges. My dad made me love reading.
I learnt a lot from my daddy. I learnt to never take things to seriously and to always smile.
Like many other fathers, my dad and I also has generation gap. He is not good at or even can’t work the computer. So when I sitting at the computer desk,he will say something like ‘you should pay more attention to your study’, ‘don’t waste time on the computer games’ , ‘it will be bad for your eyes’ and so on. How can I- a computer fan – rece time on computer? So I continue studying and playing on it
Years pasted, my father is over 45 now. It is time for me to look after him and I am sure I will do and we will live an even better life.
