这匹额头带白色星芒斑、四蹄雪白的骏马名字叫Joey，我却想叫它Joy，它能活下来和它的主人团聚，实在是太好了。战火浮生，它所经历过的形形色色的人，英国人，德国人，法国人，养大它的农场小伙子Albert，骑着它冲锋陷阵的北萨默塞特义勇骑兵队上尉Nicholls，照顾它的Gunther和Michael兄弟，捡到它、想教它跨栏的法国小姑娘Emilie，剪断铁刺网联手救下它的英德士兵……这些人中有的死了，有的幸存，战火带给各国人民的苦难，谁也不比谁受得少，历尽艰辛伤痛后的重聚，毕竟是令人欣慰的。只要亲爱的还在一起，生活就还能继续，正如璀璨的晚霞与黑暗的长夜过后，总会有拂晓到来。

吸引我看这部影片的，不是斯皮尔伯格的名头，也不是参演的演员们，而是难得的一战题材，和昙花一现的关于北萨默塞特义勇骑兵队（North Somerset Yeomanry）的片断。

北萨默塞特义勇骑兵队是随英国地方自卫队（Territorial Force ）的建制而组建的，最初隶属于第1西南骑兵旅，总部在巴斯，下辖A、B、C、D四支骑兵中队，其中A中队驻巴斯，训练营在巴斯安普敦、法姆博罗、弗洛姆、梅尔斯和罗德。梅尔斯的霍纳家族继承人Edward William Horner在大战爆发之初应募的便是这支骑兵中队，后来他转调第18玛丽女王所属轻骑兵队，1917年在康布雷战役中阵亡。

一战爆发后NSY扩编为三个团，其中1/1st是真正意义上的一线作战部队。1914年8月份它随西南骑兵旅转移到苏塞克斯，随后被命令单独前往法国，11月3日登陆，13日被编入第3骑兵师第6骑兵旅，1915年5月这个团在伊普尔Bellewaarde附近抵抗德军的进攻中损失惨重，1918年3月离开师部，最初计划改组为步兵，两日后改为与莱斯特郡义勇骑兵队合并组建一个机枪营，最终因为德军的春季攻势而搁置，该团仍保留为骑兵团，4月份解编，以中队为单位并入第6骑兵旅各个营（第1龙骑兵，第3近卫龙骑兵，第10轻骑兵）。影片中出现的这支NSY部队毫无疑问属于1/1st NSY。

想必许多女性观众是冲着Tom Hiddleston、Benedict Cumberbatch去的，他们两位在影片中都扮演了NSY的军官，BC是少校Jamie Stewart，TH是上尉Nicholls，《剑桥风云》里Julian Bell的扮演者Patrick Kennedy是他们的同僚，中尉Charlie Waverly，这不是Patrick第一次演一战军官了。这三位难兄难弟在一次对敌营发动的突袭中一死二俘，马尸与人尸混杂，僵卧战场的情状，虽不血腥，却足以令人思之悯然。尤其是当我联想到Edward在1915年的那次重伤，1917年在康布雷的阵亡，也可能是这样悲壮的冲锋陷阵时。以前关注的多为一战中英军死难者，看《战马》这个片段时，第一次认真考虑了俘虏的问题，令人腆颜的是，尽管这是个很明显的问题，以前忽略它却是因为觉得战俘不够光荣尊严之缘故。Waverly被从马上掀翻下来，Stewart在包围中将佩刀重重刺入土中，又有何不尊严之处？一战本来就是消耗人生命的无价值之战，不值得那么多青年为它殉葬。然而Stewart在战前动员演讲时的那句for fallen comrades还是感动了我。for fallen comrades，对于身在泥泞和炮火中的士兵们，要比for the King来得实在得多吧。

反战主题无处不在。Albert瘸腿又酗酒的父亲Ted原是帝国义勇骑兵队老兵，参加了第二次布尔战争，在南非服役，负过重伤，拿过DCM（优异作战勋章，和DSO对应，DSO授予委任军官，DCM授予非委任军官），但Ted对自己在战争中的作为一无骄傲，他扔掉了自己的团三角旗和勋章，妻子Rose却暗地里保存并藏了起来。后来Rose把这些给Albert看。那面猩红的三角旗就此成了影片的一个符号，随着Albert的手系到了变为战马的Joy的辔上，然后穿越战火，落到那对法国爷孙手里，又在最后回归了Albert之手。

当Nicholls阵亡后，坐骑Joy被德军俘获，它被交给两个年轻的后勤士兵Gunther和Michael，然而随着战局的演变，Michael被调入现役，Gunther害怕年纪太小的Michael会在战场上死去，他会背弃自己许诺要照顾好弟弟的誓言，他在半路上骑着Joy截走了Michael，当了逃兵。影片没有给人安慰的结局，这对兄弟一如我担忧的那样，被抓到枪毙了。

然后来到了法国爷孙家里，孙女的父母死于战争，孙女指责爷爷懦弱，而爷爷说，there are different ways to be brave。孙女捡到了Gunther和Michael留下的Joy和它的黑马朋友。她训练Joy，想让它学会跨栏，可这样田园式的宁静生活只是瞬息，Joy很快被来到的德军部队带走，为了顶替衰颓的小黑，它自愿被发配去拉超重型榴弹炮（那是Dicke Bertha？对一战重炮没有研究，求指教），从战马降格成了苦力。

高爆弹的火光照亮了英军堑壕，堑壕里出现了Albert的脸，原来他也已经从戎，到了法国。时间流逝，1918年索姆河，一场小型堑壕攻防战正激烈展开。在机枪的扫射前，英军不断仆倒，Albert冲锋到德军堑壕前沿，用一枚手雷干掉了德军机枪手，夺取堑壕的短暂兴奋很快被突如其来的毒气冲散。另一边，小黑终于因力竭而倒毙行军途中，失伴的Joy在逼近的坦克前左冲右突，最后几尽疯狂，在两军对峙的疆场上狂奔，不幸陷入铁刺网的牢笼。为了救出Joy，英德士兵各举白旗暂时休战，两个本源是兄弟，却成为仇敌的年轻人一边用铁钳剪断Joy身上的铁刺，一边用英语流利地交谈。大战中许多英德士兵兼有两国血统，他们面临阵营选择的煎熬，他们面临许多困难，他们面临拿起枪屠杀自己手足的悲剧。然而这就是战争。

被毒气薰伤眼睛的Albert在急救站里与面目全非的Joy重逢，当年的誓言，“无论你走到哪里，我都要找到你”，犹在耳畔。

虽然不尽完美，有所失望，但这仍是我今年看到的好影片。
