中文:卡洛琳是一个只有十几岁大的小女孩，正如这个年纪的其他孩子一样，卡洛琳对身边的一切都充满了童趣一般的好奇心。因为种种原因，她的父母决定举家搬迁到另外一个小镇居住，搬家对于大人来说是一份相当繁琐和累人的工作，但对于小小的卡洛琳却是相当有意思的一次经历。同样的，这个全新入住的小镇对于大人来说是相当的阴郁和诡异，但这一切在卡洛琳的眼中都是那样的有趣，不论是训练了一个老鼠马戏团的老爷爷，还是整天吵架的怪异姐妹都成了她探索的对象。但最神奇的事情还不是这些，卡洛琳发现在这栋老房子里有一个惊天的大秘密！原先她曾经数过家里的门，数字停留在13这个最不吉利的数字上。而神奇的是，原来在客厅里还有一道谁也没发现的门。这道门后面通向哪里呢？卡洛琳绝对是个行动派，她充分地认识到“实践是检验真理唯一标准”这句话的正确性。所以她便走进了这扇大门……
